Frequently Asked Questions

Do you follow the Roane County school schedule?
Yes.  We follow the Roane County school schedule as it pertains to school holidays and breaks.  We do not have a summer program at this time. When Roane County schools are closed due to inclement weather we are also.
What supplies does my child need for school?
Your child will need a change of clothes to be left in their cubby in case of emergencies.  They will need to bring their own lunch and drink.
What is your discipline strategy?
We use gentle, consistent discipline and positive reinforcement with a much stronger emphasis on prevention than on punishment.  We use redirection and rewards to help your child make wise behavioral cholces.  If your child does engage in behavior that endagers the other children he/she wil be put in time out and you will be notified.
What time can I bring my child to school?
We are ready to receive your child at 8:45am at which time the front doors will be unlocked.  You may pick your child up between 1:45-2:00pm.
Do you have any lunch restrictions?
We ask that you don't send candy, soda pop or anything that requires heating.  A good thermos is a better option for keeping food warm.  Also, containers need to be child friendly and easy to open.  We do have a fridge in the kitchen you are welcome to use for any lunches that need to be kept cold.  Peanut butter sandwiches are permitted unless we have a child with a peanut allergy in which case you would be notified.
Do you have a dress code?
We do not have a dress code.  We ask that you send your child in washable play clothes.  We want your child to feel free to explore and play without worrying about their clothing.  Tennis shoes work better than sandals on the playground.  Dresses need to have shorts underneath.
Does my child have to be toilet trained before coming to school?
Yes.  Our classes are not designed to accommodate diaper or pull-up changing.  Also, your child will be expected to clean himself/herself after using the bathroom.
